Holy Cannoli
It has been quite a while since I have posted something. There have been many factors contributing to this. For instance: sleep more important than blogging, and last night Laura and I couldn't get a signal for the internet. However, tonight the internet is running super fast! Thank you Holiday Inn Express!
So much has happened since my last post, I hope I don't forget anything
Opening night went great. The show ran smoothly for the most part and we got to meet our wonderful producer Eva. She is fabulous and took us all out for dinner that night at a cool seafood restaurant. Me being the vegetarian that I am, had a couple of side dishes, but they turned out fantastic and very filling.
The next morning we performed for lots of children on a field trip and it was a blast. The sound of their laughter and participation throughout the show was priceless and so fulfilling. It reminds you why I do what I do, and why I love it so much. After our show, and many pictures later, it was time to load out and take off.
Our first official load out of the set went fairly smoothly. The crew was very helpful and kind. After having packed up and ready to leave in the van we had to say goodbye to our outstanding stagemanager Octavia. She has been such a joy and a gem to work with, it was hard saying goodbye.
We then departed to our next stop to spend the night in Daphne, Alabama. Our wonderful tour manager and TD made a couple hour pit stop to where else, but NEW ORLEANS! It was a wonderful gift and tease to spend only 2 hours there, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
I played it safe by eating at the Hard Rock Cafe where I knew I could buy a delicious veggie burger. After I finished I met some friends at a restaurant and we took off to Jackson Square and Cafe Du Monde. Jackson square was absolutely beautiful and I took really cool pictures. Cafe Du Monde was a great cafe with TONS of people sitting and eating outside. I had my first beignet and it was phenomenal!
After saying goodbye to New Orleans (I need to go back and explore some more when I have time), we were on our way to Alabama. The car ride was not bad and we made it to our destination. My roommate Laura and I decided to get some food and we went to Cracker Barrel. I had never heard of this place before but apparently it's a pretty well known establishment in the south. They have them everywhere!
I ordered a veggie plate which consisted of Mac and Cheese, fried apples, green beans, and mashed potatoes. It was amazing, but my stomach paid for it later. I also tried grits for the first time. All in all, it was a great experience and I'm glad I got to try some real southern cooking.
Today we drove to Montgomery and got to go to the fine arts museum. It was very beautiful with lots of pretty things to look at :-) not to mention the beautiful view outside. This evening we made it to our LaGrange, GA.
I'm cutting this post short as I am getting tired and running out of stuff to say :-) maybe tomorrow will be a little more interesting. Tomorrow we leave for Greensville, South Carolina and the hotel is supposed to be very nice and on the river. I can't wait.
